P3H Developing Problem Solving, Collaboration and Creativity through Activity Based Learning in KS1

18th May 2023

“Play is fundamentally important for learning 21st century skills, such as problem solving, collaboration and creativity.” (American Academy of Paediatrics)

This term we extended our Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities within the topic ‘Houses and Homes,’ through Activity Based Learning. Here are some of our favourite highlights;

  • Moulding and manipulating clay to form a front door design;
  • Working with a partner to create electrical circuits to light bulbs;
  • Becoming an interior designer, designing a living room, kitchen or bedroom;
  • Using a shoe box and junk materials to build our very own ‘Dream Bedroom;’
  • Travelling back in time to re-inact what a school was like 100 years ago and;
  • Learning how to tend to flowers and vegetables in our school allotment.

Excellent Problem Solving, Collaboration and Creativity P3!
