Dundela’s Allotment recognised by Belfast In Bloom Awards! 🏆

5th Nov 2021

We are delighted that Dundela Infants' School has been announced as runners up for Best Kept Garden 2021 in Belfast City Council's Belfast in Bloom competition.

We had applied earlier in the year with our new allotment area and a lovely lady from the council came out to look at it in June. Mrs Currie had the privilege of going along to meet the Lord Mayor Kate Nicholl at the awards ceremony in October to be presented with our certificate, a lovely filled window box and a voucher for Hillmount Garden Centre which will be used to buy something for the allotment.

We have also recently gained our Level 1 School Gardening Award from the Royal Horticultural Society and hope to apply for Level 2 soon.

A big thank you goes to our parents for all your fantastic donations of tools, pots, bulbs, plants, seeds and much, much more... we could not have transformed the space without you. Also, to the children who have been very busy throughout the year planting, tending and patiently waiting to see what might grow! And lastly a huge thank you to all of our dedicated staff team who have put a lot of hard work into this area.

As winter approaches the allotment might look a little sorry for itself but keep watching for new signs of life as Spring approaches!

Please get in touch if you'd like to help in any way.
